"Armchair" diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
History: As a result of clenching and grinding their teeth, this person has experienced significant tooth wear. Additionally, a tooth that has had
root canal treatment has become discolored.
Cosmetic dentistry treatment plan: This person needs to discuss their bruxism (tooth clenching and grinding) habit with their dentist so a means of controlling or minimizing the effects of this activity is found. Once bruxism is not a complicating factor, the dentist can more predictably restore this person's teeth to their original shape. Dental crowns would probably be the best solution for repairing the upper teeth. Either orthodontic treatment, dental crowns, or even just
dental bonding might be used as a means to close the spaces between the lower teeth.
