"Armchair" diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
History:
The biting edges of this person's upper center teeth show signs of wear. From a standpoint of cosmetics this gives them an appearance that hints at age, as opposed to youthfulness. This person's center right tooth seems to have some brown staining. Possibly this same tooth as well as its neighboring teeth have areas of white discoloration too.
Cosmetic dentistry treatment plan:
In our "after" picture we've illustrated cosmetic changes involving only the center upper four teeth. We anticipate that the change in tooth length we show returns these teeth to a size and shape similar to their original one (before they had worn).
Assuming this person's occlusion (bite) allows room for the type of shape changes we have shown,
dental crowns would certainly be one way to accomplish the cosmetic results we have illustrated. It is also conceivable that these same types of cosmetic changes could be accomplished by the placement of
porcelain veneers, once again depending on constraints placed by this person's occlusion. The dentist who performs the treatment would need to be the one who makes the determination as to which type of dental restoration would be best.
