Smile makeovers: Armchair diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
History: This person was simply interested in seeing what types of improvements we could illustrate for her smile.
Cosmetic dentistry treatment plan:
Our "after" picture shows how her smile might be changed by placing porcelain veneers on her six center upper teeth. One might feel that the veneers idealize the shape of some of these teeth. To a greater extent the porcelain veneers are a way by which the apparent alignment and positioning of the teeth can be perfected.
Her lower teeth exhibit more crowding than her upper teeth do. As a result it would be much harder, or even impossible, to make any significant appearance changes for these teeth by way of placing porcelain veneers.
Since the overall shape of her teeth in the "before" picture seems to be nice, and since the health of her teeth and gums appears to be good too, another approach to this same case would be to utilize orthodontic treatment (braces) as a means of idealizing the alignment of her teeth (rather than by the use of porcelain veneers).
We did illustrate a color change for her teeth in our "after" picture that could probably be achieved by the
at home teeth bleaching method. This process could be done either before or after orthodontic treatment. If porcelain veneers were going to be place then the teeth whitening process should be completed before the veneers are made.
