"Armchair" diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
History: The space lying between teeth #1 and #2 exists because a tooth has been extracted.
Cosmetic dentistry treatment plan: Widen the space between teeth #1 and #2 so a normal sized artificial tooth can be placed. Idealize the alignment of the remaining teeth.
Step 1: Use orthodontic treatment (braces) as a way to idealize the alignment of the upper and lower teeth. During this treatment tooth #1 can be pulled back a little and tooth #2 brought forward some. The net result will be that the space between teeth #1 and #2 is widened so a normal sized artificial tooth can be put in place.
Step 2: The missing tooth could be replaced via use of a dental implant, a fixed dental bridge, or a removable partial denture. Tooth #1 could be repaired by way of placing a
white filling (dental bonding) or else a
dental crown.
