Battery recharge life

I have owned 2 lower cost Oral B brushes over the last 2 or 3 years. Previously my more expensive model lasted for a few years before not taking any recharge. I don't have the receipt so not sure how long the cheaper ones lasted but I think it is about a year. I wondered if it is a cheaper battery but you say they are cadmium (NiCd) rather than the top end ones being Lithium. My latest one stopped after recharging in Bali. Is the voltage difference a possible cause? I would have charged the previous one over there as well. Or is it more likely a cheaper quality battery? As the action is inferior I will try the one you recommend but need to find out about Bali voltage and will keep my receipt incase it stops after one year.
