The NUPRO ® White Gold / Illumine professional teeth whitening system is manufactured by Dentsply International. This company makes a wide range of dental products. The NUPRO ® White Gold / Illumine teeth whitening system is a combination whitening approach that incorporates both in-office (Illumine ) and at-home (NUPRO ® White Gold) whitening treatments.
The Illumine teeth whitening system utilizes a 36% hydrogen peroxide-based bleaching gel that is prepared for use at the time of application. The pH of the Illumine whitener is about 7.

The Illumine in-office teeth whitening system protocol does not include the use of a bleaching light or laser.

Since the Illumine in-office teeth whitening system does not employ a bleaching light or laser there is no potential for treatments to produce a heating effect on the teeth.
(More about why it is important that a bleaching light does not produce a significant heating effect...)
Illumine teeth whitening treatments usually take about an hour from start to finish. Each Illumine treatment session consists of three separate applications of whitener, with each individual application lasting 15 minutes. Pre and post treatment preparations and activities round the total treatment time for the patient up to about 60 to 70 minutes.
After the completion of the Illumine in-office treatment, continued bleaching with the NUPRO ® White Gold at-home whitener is an option left up to the discretion of the dentist and the patient. This in-office and at-home combination whitening therapy is commonplace. In fact, one way Dentsply packages and sells their whitening products to dentists is as an Illumine / NUPRO ® White Gold combination whitening kit.

The procedure your dentist follows when performing Illumine teeth whitening treatments does not vary greatly from those general steps we illustrate and describe for the typical professional teeth whitening process. Specifically, however, as you read through our pages please note that the Illumine whitening protocol does not make use of a light or laser to "activate" the whitener. Additionally, Dentsply states that the protocol used with its Illumine whitener does not have to include the use of a dental dam.
This question is one that should be answered by your dentist. What we do have to say however in terms of generalities is yes, the Illumine / NUPRO ® White Gold whitening system, just like the other profession teeth whitening systems we discuss on our pages, should be able to provide a very capable whitening solution.
