The Rembrandt ® professional teeth whitening system is manufactured by Johnson & Johnson. The Rembrandt ® brand name has a long and active history associated with developing and manufacturing teeth whitening products.
The Rembrandt ® teeth whitening system employs a hydrogen peroxide-based bleaching gel. This whitener comes prepackaged and has a 25% hydrogen peroxide concentration and a pH of 8.5. The company states that they include a desensitizing agent in their whitener's formulation so to help to minimize the potential for bleaching related sensitivity.

The Rembrandt ® teeth whitening system protocol includes the use of a plasma arc light unit (named the Rembrandt ® Sapphire ™). This bleaching light can be fitted with the Rembrandt ® Whitening Crystal ™ so to allow the dentist to simultaneously treat both the patient's upper and lower teeth. The wavelength of the light emitted from this unit is in the range of 400 to 525nm (meaning that the light has a blue-green coloration). The implication associated with the use of a bleaching light is that the company believes that light of this specific wavelength activates some aspect of the Rembrandt ® tooth whitener so to enhance its whitening effect.

The Rembrandt ® Sapphire ™ filters out the infrared emissions created by the plasma arc light so that it does not create a heating effect on the teeth being treated.

Just out of curiosity and for your own information, your dentist probably paid in excess of $4,000 for their Rembrandt ® Sapphire ™ bleaching light.

Rembrandt ® teeth whitening treatments usually take about 90 minutes from start to finish. The Rembrandt ® whitener is typically applied to the patient's teeth for a total duration of one hour (two applications, 30 minutes each). If the dentist has the Rembrandt ® Whitening Crystal ™ attachment for their bleaching light, upper and lower teeth can be treated simultaneously. Pre and post treatment preparations and activities round the total treatment time for the patient up to about 90 minutes.
Continued bleaching with an at-home teeth whitening product after the completion of the professional Rembrandt ® treatment is an option left up to the discretion of the dentist and the patient. Rembrandt ® is well known for their at-home teeth whitening products.

The procedure your dentist follows when performing Rembrandt ® teeth whitening system treatments does not vary greatly from those general steps we illustrate and describe for the typical professional teeth whitening process. Specifically, however, as you read through our pages please note that the Rembrandt ® whitening system does include the use of a paint on dental dam and the "activation" of the whitening gel with a bleaching light.
This question can only be answered after a discussion with the dentist who will perform the whitening treatments but yes, generally speaking, the Rembrandt ® teeth whitening system is a good product and is made by a company that is well known for creating quality teeth whitening products.
