Our opinion about Crest Whitestrips ® Classic:
Probably the best choice for the first time user.
Crest Whitestrips ® Classic is an excellent choice for those who have never used a whitening strips product before. These strips contain 6% hydrogen peroxide. This low concentration helps to insure that the whitening process will produce an even color change and minimize the likelihood of bleaching side effects (such as tooth sensitivity and gum irritation), while still giving the same general degree of whitening as other "nonprofessional" strips. The downside is that Crest Whitestrips ® Classic's lower concentration whitener means that the total time (the total number of treatments) that it takes for them to produce results will be longer (2 weeks) than with other whitening strips (typically one week).

Our opinion about Crest Whitestrips ® Premium:
A good choice for those who have used whitening strips before and want more whitening potential.
We would consider Crest Whitestrips ® Premium to be a good choice for those who have already had some experience with using a whitening strip product and have not experienced significant side effects. Crest Whitestrips ® Premium provides a faster whitening solution than Whitestrips ® Classic due to a higher concentration whitener (10% hydrogen peroxide). However, this increased concentration of whitener does raise the potential that the user will experience whitening side effects (as compared to Whitestrips ® Classic) and therefore might not be the best choice for the first time user.

Our opinion about Crest Whitestrips ® Premium Plus:
This product is similar to Crest Whitestrips ® Premium (10% hydrogen peroxide whitener) but the Premium Plus kit gives you three more days of treatment. Crest's website implies that your teeth will stay whiter, longer with Premium Plus strips. We would anticipate that this claim is simply based on the fact that a greater degree of whitening is achieved (the kit contains extra strips) and therefore it takes longer (a greater number of months) for the achieved color change to relapse, not because of some inherent property of the strips themselves.

We would anticipate that Crest's claims regarding the longevity of whitening results with Renewal are based on circumstances similar to those we discuss in regards to Whitestrips ® Premium Plus.

Our opinion about Crest Whitestrips ® Supreme:
Lots of whitening potential but not the right choice for the first time user.
Crest Whitestrips ® Supreme provides an aggressive whitening solution by offering the highest concentration of whitener found in any Whitestrips ® product (14% hydrogen peroxide). This elevated concentration of whitener makes the likelihood of experiencing side effects greater than with other types of Whitestrips ®. Because of this kit's large number of high concentration strips, Whitestrips ® Supreme offers the greatest potential for achieving dramatic color changes. These strips have a longer length than other Whitestrips ® and therefore allow you to treat a greater number of teeth. We would not consider Whitestrips ® Premium to be an entry-level product nor a prudent choice for the first time user.

Our opinion about Rembrandt ® Whitening Strips:
A good choice for those who like the idea of using whitening strips but don't like Crest Whitestrips ® brand strips.
This kit is Rembrandt's ® entry-level whitening strips product. If you have tried Whitestrips ® and didn't like using them then Rembrandt ® brand is worth investigating because these whitening strips have design features intended to be improvements over comparable Whitestrips ® products. Rembrandt ® touts that their Form-Fit ™ technology provides for better adaptation of their strips to the shape of your mouth. Rembrandt ® Whitening Strips are longer than comparable Whitestrips ® and have a minty taste. Rembrandt ® doesn't readily disclose the concentration of the whitener in these strips but we would anticipate that the use of this product would produce whitening results on par with Whitestrips ® Classic.

The Advanced Whitening Strips offer Rembrandt's ® same design features: Form-Fit ™ technology, a longer length than comparable Whitestrips ®, and mint flavoring.
Rembrandt ® doesn't readily disclose the concentration of the whitener in these strips but we would anticipate that the use of this product would produce whitening results on par with Whitestrips ® Premium.

Our opinion about Listerine Whitening ® Quick Dissolving Strips:
Listerine touts that their Whitening ® Quick Dissolving Strips are the easiest type of whitening strip to use, just put them on and forget about them. These strips start to dissolve as soon as they are put on (on average in 5 to 10 minutes) so there's nothing to remove. Listerine doesn't readily disclose the concentration of the whitener in these strips but we would anticipate that the use of this product would produce a lesser whitening result than the other products found on this page. A part of our reasoning would be the short treatment time associated with these strips (5 to 10 minutes vs. 30 for others) and the fact that there is not strip barrier to protect the whitener from being diluted by saliva.
