Water Fluoridation in the United States

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that “water fluoridation reduces tooth decay by about 25 percent over a person’s lifetime”.

Their 2012 survey of community water systems determined that 210,655,401 people in the USA receive fluoridated water. That’s 67% of the total population.

By the State

This map shows the percentage of each state’s population that receives fluoridated water.

Kentucky comes in 1st place with 99.9% of residents. Hawaii is last with just 10.8%.

The CDC states that 18,502 individual community water systems across the country monitor fluoride levels.

Cities of all Sizes

This map shows just a handful of fluoridated cities across the nation, both big and small.

Is there fluoride in your tap water?

Use the CDC website to find out.

If your water isn’t treated.

According to the CDC …

31,379,130 people are on their own water system.

71,879,509 are on community systems that aren’t fluoridated.

If you’re in one of these groups, consult with your dentist.

They can explain to you how to create a proper fluoride exposure, so you can get the benefits it provides too.
